Julia is the Director at GIPSIL, a locally based and managed organisation working predominantly in the East North East area. Julia's role involves managing relationships between what can be an unpopular client group and the wider community. Their approach to locality and interagency working has recently been recognised by the "Together Communities project", and the learning shared nationally.
She has worked in the voluntary sector for many years, managing a wide range of community support services. Prior to working for GIPSIL Julia worked for LCC in commissioning and contract management. In this role Julia was involved in writing the National guidance for Procuring Care and Support services. This has given her a good understanding of good commissioning practice, internal council processes and competing pressures in relation to commissioning.
Julia represents the sector on the Adult Safeguarding Board and Supporting People Provider Forum and attend the Environment and Neighbourhood Commissioning Body as an observer to ensure transparency and fairness. The role involves feeding back to various forums and to represent the sector as a whole. Julia am known for asking the "awkward" questions and able to communicate effectively and assertively with commissioners in their language.
