Employee Volunteering

Leeds Ahead

Many employers believe that volunteering by their employees is beneficial not only in reducing employee turnover, recruitment and training costs, but also for increasing employee motivation and productivity. In Leeds, Leeds Ahead are the Council's main partner developing employee volunteering

Leeds Ahead

Leeds Ahead design projects for employers that meet personal development needs of their staff across the range of volunteering opportunities. The learning gained is tracked and monitored in the feedback from individual volunteers. Leeds Ahead will have an initial meeting with the employer to identify objectives around community engagement. Programmes are structured to meet these objectives and once agreed, the Leeds Ahead team will give ongoing support to put programmes into action.

Leeds Ahead projects contribute to regeneration objectives such as improving educational attainment, helping the jobless into work, encouraging enterprise, improving the environment and helping the voluntary and community sector to be more effective. Projects offer valuable opportunities outside of the workplace for staff at all levels.

As a broker, Leeds Ahead works with a wide range of partners to source valuable and appropriate projects. We also facilitate the projects, ensuring that they run smoothly and that staff time is used to best effect. This includes collecting feedback on each project from volunteers and community partners. An annual membership fee is charged to cover the time spent delivering the programme. The fee is flexible and will vary according to the type and number of projects that an employer chooses.
