Community Cascade

Community Cascade

Community Cascade is a project funded through the Big Lottery until October 2012 providing support to community networks (e.g. network of tenants and residents associations or network of mother and toddler groups) and community buildings (e.g. church halls, scout huts, older peoples centres, etc.) in West Yorkshire.

How VAL is involved

Through Community Cascade support is available to organisations and groups to help them become more sustainable in the long-term. The project provides training on how to secure funding; help with improving marketing and publicity; information on how to reduce their environmental impact and advice on how to develop community cohesion.

At VAL we are supporting organisations and groups in their work, specifically in the following areas:

  • Cohesion - how your group can work with different sections of your community - benefits; attracts new users to your service, brings in new blood to your committee
  • Environmental/Green issues - how to manage your energy use and save money for your building and benefit from associated cost savings and increased sustainability
  • Marketing - how to get your service noticed. Bring more users of your community space, and benefit from increased income.
  • Funding - how to get your hands on the money, where is it, what is the criteria for applying, etc.

Free support and specialist workshops can be arranged for your network or community building to support its future growth and sustainability.
