What
are Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Forums?
PPI Forums are made up of groups of volunteers in your local community who are
enthusiastic about helping patients and members of the public influence the
way that local healthcare is organised and delivered. Forum members come from
a broad variety of backgrounds and have a range of experiences and skills. PPI
Forums have been set up to help you have a much greater input into decisions
that affect your health and the health of your local community. They are keen
to work with all sectors of the community to find out what people really think
about health and healthcare in the local area - and take action wherever necessary.
Composition
of the Forums
There are seven PPI Forums for the Leeds Trusts which are; Leeds Acute Hospitals,
Leeds Mental Health Services, Leeds East PCT, Leeds North-East PCT, Leeds North-West
PCT, Leeds South PCT, Leeds West PCT. Each Forum has between seven and eleven
members and is currently developing a work plan which will set out the main
priorities for action for the immediate future. The Forums will be looking to
start outreach work in the near future to contact a wider audience and get views
from patients and carers. At the same time they will be working with their relevant
trust on issues identified in the Forums work programme.
